Guess which is the number 1 airport in the world

Singapore, as a tourist destination, is really incredible. It is surprising how it keeps notching up award after award. While its attract ions like the Night Safari and Singapore Zoo have scooped up numerous trophies over the years, the latest addition in the country’s cabinet is trophy received for its Changi Airport.

best airport in the world

In a recent award ceremony (Geneva’s World Airport Awards), Singapore’s Changi Airport has beaten all competitions to come out on the top. It brushed aside competition from South Korea’s Incheon Airport to take the number one spot in the coveted list of world’s best airports. Last year, Changi had had to be contented with the second spot after Incheon grabbed the top rung. But Changi improved its services over the year and won the majority of votes to topple Icheon and take over the top spot in 2013. Its triumph would give further boost to tourism in Singapore.

However, this is not the first time that Changi Airport has been crowned as the best of the lot. It also won the trophy in the years 2000, 2006 and 2010.

The survey was conducted over a period of 9 months during which Skytrax questioned over 12 million passengers about their preferences. The maximum votes fell in the lap of Changi, followed by Incheon International Airport and Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. Hong Kong International Airport and Beijing Capital International Airport rounded off the top 5.

Singapore’s Changi is credited with being one of the first airports to introduce Wi-Fi facility for its guests. The airport also won the highest number of votes since it offered its guests many perks including free city tours and the many luxuries of pools, movies and stopovers at gardens.
